PGDM (Agri Business) - FABS's Post Graduate Programme in Agri Business

The Agri Business Management programme of FABS - the PGDM (Agri Business) is a 2-year, fully residential programme. This uniquely designed agri business management programme will provide an ideal learning environment, practical interaction with industry and adequate field exposure to enable the development of a breed of young, enterprising agri business professionals to meet the growing industry demand.  The programme will offer three streams of specialization – International Agriculture, Agri Business Finance, and Agri Business Marketing. Each student will be permitted to specialize in two streams – a major stream and a minor stream.

Classroom sessions of 1st batch of PGDM (Agri Business) will commence in August 2009. Intake in the first batch will be limited to 60 students and will increased over the years.

Focus of the Programme

The programme is designed to provide strong inputs in the following focus areas:

Market Orientation – The agriculture and food industries are currently undergoing significant changes. Professionals in these sectors and farmers have to work in a more market orientated environment in order to fulfil consumer expectations and increasing environmental concerns.

• Business&Management skills – The programme will equip students with skills, knowledge and attitudes required for a successful manager in the field of agribusiness in the emerging global context.

• Blend of Basic and Integrated Courses- The programme includes basic courses that help students understand the agriculture and agribusiness sector, core courses that develop required analytical and communication skills in the students, courses in functional areas of management, and integrated courses that help students develop strategic perspective.

• Summer Project provides exposure to real-life situations through partnership with industry.

• Job Creators – Unique feature of this programme is to equip entrepreneurial skills to those who want to be job creators than job seekers by setting up agribusiness enterprises.
