The food and agri sector accounts for the largest chunk of employment and GDP. The size of the Indian food market is estimated to be around Rs. 2,50,000 crores, of which value-added food products constitute Rs. 80,000 crores. The ever-expanding multinational and Indian corporate sectors are looking for professionals with technical knowledge and managerial skills with a corporate vision. The agri-techno managers need to be trained in an environment that imparts managerial skills and techniques suitable for agri-business activity. The opportunities for agri-business entrepreneurs, in the Afro-Asian and North American countries are increasing, provided they go with required skill sets.
FABS aims at moulding the youth as entrepreneurs and professional managers for converting Indian agriculture from “a way of life” into “ Agri-Business” and prepare them to avail the opportunities in food and agribusiness sector in Afro-Asian and North American countries. Its portfolio of activities will include research, consultancy, training and education. Its flagship programme will be the 2-year, fully residential Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness Management (PGDM – Agribusiness). The uniquely designed programme will provide an ideal learning environment, practical interaction with industry and adequate field exposure to enable the development of a breed of young, enterprising, agribusiness professionals to meet the needs of growing industry.
