Connected Agriculture - A Pilot Project on Sourcing Processes.

Dr. K Prathap Reddy, Director, FABS has accepted an asignment with CISCO, Bangalore as consultant to their Connected Agriculture project. Government of India through partnership with private industry - the Service Contract Agency (SCA) - is creating one lakh Common Service Centers throughout India. These are also called as Kiosks. Our assignment invloves working with CISCO in:

(i) Helping the SCA developing:
o Potential Locations for opening the Kiosks,
o Potential Suppliers of Agri produce(Farmers),
o Sale Purchase Price spreads at Kiosks,
o Potential Buyers.

(ii) Helping CISCO in preparing a process document /manual on management of Kiosks including managing purchase, ensuring quality through grading, managing payment to farmers, managing packing and loading produce, if required, and most importantly managing the Kiosk’s finances and administration. The 6-months assignmeent had commenced in April 2009.
